Abstrakt: New research conducted by Wroclaw Medical University in Poland explores the potential use of zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) and its sugar conjugates as antipsoriatic agents. The study found that a protected glucose-ZnPc conjugate demonstrated superior phototoxicity compared to other conjugates and free ZnPc. In vivo photodynamic therapy (PDT) using the glucose-ZnPc conjugate showed significant improvement in Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) and restored normal skin morphology. These findings suggest that sugar-conjugated zinc phthalocyanines could be potential candidates for targeted PDT in psoriasis treatment, warranting further clinical investigations.
