Abstrakt: This document presents a study on the resistance mechanisms of Klebsiella pneumoniae to the antibiotic cefiderocol. The study focused on the overproduction of the SHV-1 β-lactamase in K. pneumoniae, which can reduce susceptibility to ceftazidime. The researchers sequenced and tested five clinical isolates of K. pneumoniae and found that those with SHV-1 overproduction exhibited resistance to cefiderocol. The study also identified a specific substitution in SHV-1 that enhanced its hydrolytic activity against cefiderocol. These findings contribute to our understanding of antibiotic resistance in K. pneumoniae and can help inform strategies to combat it. [Extracted from the article]
