A series of lanthanide-doped aluminosilicate phosphors has been synthesized by combustion methods using a stoichiometric ratio of oxidizer and fuel. Further, we investigated the luminescence properties and energy transfer mechanism of lanthanide-doped SrAl2Si2O8 nanocrystalline phosphor at room temperature. Crystallite size and phase identification have been carried out using powder X-ray diffraction and TEM analysis. Ln3+ (Ce3+, Dy3+, Sm3+)-doped SrAl2Si2O8 phosphor shows the characteristics excitation bands for each rare earth ions. Based on the corresponding d–f and f–f transition of rare earth ions and the spectral overlap of donor and acceptor ions we studied energy transfer process in Ce3+/Dy3+ and Ce3+/Sm3+-doped SrAl2Si2O8 phosphor. Thus, enhancement in PL intensity of phosphor occurred with appearance of characteristics spectral bands of rare earth ions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
