This article discusses the challenges of breast cancer screening in women with dense breasts and explores the potential of using DWI-based breast MRI without contrast as an alternative screening method. Dense breast tissue is known to decrease the sensitivity of mammography for cancer detection. Other imaging modalities such as contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) and contrast-enhanced MRI (CE-MRI) have shown promise, but large-scale screening studies comparing these modalities are lacking. The article also discusses the potential of unenhanced MRI (UE-MRI) with DWI for breast lesion detection and categorization. The author suggests that further research is needed to determine the potential applications of UE-MRI and DWI for screening dense breasts. The article emphasizes the need for a more personalized approach to breast cancer screening, especially for women with dense breasts. [Extracted from the article] |
