This paper presents the design of a thinned reflectarray. The phase-shifting elements are slotted rectangular microstrip antennas with via connection to the ground plane. They are disposed in a regular grid. The thinning procedure is used to determine which elements may be removed, according to the desired radiation pattern, without significant change in directivity.
