Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the capacity to acquire knowledge while addressing complex problems through learning and problem-solving techniques. It is one of the promising technologies that has gained acceptance and become widespread in various fields. The medical sector can be regarded as an industry in which AI use has good potential. AI is transforming the medical sector by enabling doctors and researchers to analyse upon processing massive data amounts from certain medical field accurately and quickly. AI is used in numerous applications in the medical sector, and this paper aims to highlight some of its applications, including disease diagnosis, personalised treatment plans, drug discovery, medical imaging, and patient monitoring. In each section, we review how AI can contribute, followed by a discussion of future developments. Given the rapid development of AI, the efficiency and effectiveness of using AI in healthcare could be substantially improved through intelligent automation of various aspects of the medical sector.
