A recent study conducted at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center explored the role of cytoreductive surgery in patients with recurrent adult granulosa cell tumors of the ovary. The study found that secondary cytoreductive surgery was associated with a significant improvement in progression-free survival and overall survival compared to systemic therapy alone. Tertiary cytoreductive surgery also showed a significant improvement in progression-free survival. However, quaternary cytoreductive surgery did not show a significant improvement in progression-free survival. The study suggests that cytoreductive surgery may have a beneficial impact on survival outcomes in patients with recurrent adult granulosa cell tumors of the ovary. [Extracted from the article] |
