A recent study conducted by researchers at Petrozavodsk State University in Russia explored the relationship between dopamine levels and the postactivation effect (PAE) in individuals with Parkinson's disease (PD) and schizophrenia (SZ). The study found that in hyperdopaminergic conditions, PAE was triggered in a higher percentage of participants with SZ compared to those with PD. Conversely, in hypodopaminergic conditions, PAE was inhibited. These findings suggest that the manifestations and electromyographic characteristics of PAE in individuals with PD or SZ may indicate dopaminergic dysfunction. Further research is needed to better understand the implications of these findings. [Extracted from the article] |
