A study conducted at Pusan National University Hospital in South Korea compared two surgical techniques for osteotomy, a procedure to correct alignment issues in the lower extremities. The study found that hybrid lateral closed-wedge high tibial osteotomy (HBHTO) required a 5.6% larger correction angle at the hinge point compared to medial open-wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO) to achieve the same amount of alignment correction. The research also identified several factors that were significantly correlated with the difference in correction angle between the two techniques. This study provides valuable insights for surgeons and patients considering osteotomy procedures. [Extracted from the article] |
