A recent study conducted by Zhejiang University School of Medicine in China explored the effects of a comprehensive lifestyle intervention on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The study involved 226 overweight and obese Chinese patients with NAFLD who were randomly assigned to either an intensive lifestyle intervention (ILI) group or a control group. The ILI group followed a low carbohydrate, high protein calorie-restricted diet (CRD), exercise, and personalized nutrition counseling, while the control group adhered to a balanced CRD, exercise, and standard counseling. The results showed that the ILI group experienced significant reductions in liver fat and body mass index (BMI), as well as improvements in various metabolic indicators. However, further research is needed to confirm the long-term benefits of this approach. [Extracted from the article] |
