Abstrakt: A research report from the Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute discusses the potential applications of Jatropha curcas seedcakes in bioethanol production and the removal of methylene blue dye and hexavalent chromium from contaminated wastewater. The researchers found that seedcakes irrigated with sewage water and sludge produced the highest ethanol quantity, while seedcakes irrigated with sewage water only achieved the highest removal efficiencies for the dye and heavy metal. The study concluded that Langmuir isotherm and the pseudo-first-order model were effective in explaining the adsorption mechanism of the dye and heavy metal by Jatropha curcas seedcake. The research was supported by the Science and Technology Development Fund and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank. [Extracted from the article]
