A recent report from the Free University of Brussels discusses the evaluation of an automated disk diffusion antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) system called Radian(R) In-Line Carousel. The study compared the results of Radian(R) with manual disk diffusion AST and found a high level of agreement between the two methods. The Radian(R) system was able to accurately detect bacterial growth and antibiotic interactions, reducing the time and potential for errors associated with manual testing. Additionally, the study confirmed the thermostability of antibiotic disks in the Radian(R) system for up to 4 days. This research provides valuable insights into improving AST methods and standardization in the field of microbiology. [Extracted from the article] |
