Abstrakt: Researchers from Mansoura University conducted a study to investigate the association between a specific gene polymorphism (IL-17F rs763780) and the development of multiple sclerosis (MS) and optic neuritis. The study found that the IL-17F rs763780 C containing genotypes (CT and CC) and C allele were more frequent in MS patients, particularly in females, compared to healthy controls. The CT genotype was also associated with the presence of optic neuritis. The researchers concluded that these genotypes and allele may be risk factors for MS development, especially in females, and that the CT genotype is associated with optic neuritis.
