Abstrakt: A study conducted by researchers from the State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo investigated the trends in post-tonsillectomy analgesic use and the incidence of post-tonsillectomy bleeding before and after the FDA's 2013 warning against codeine use. The study found that there was a small but statistically significant increase in post-tonsillectomy bleeding after the warning. The use of codeine as an analgesic decreased significantly, while the use of ibuprofen, acetaminophen, ketorolac, and oxycodone increased. The study suggests that analgesic use in children after tonsillectomy has changed since the FDA warning. [Extracted from the article]
