Abstrakt: A recent study conducted in Zunyi, People's Republic of China, explored the impact of benign childhood epilepsy with centrotemporal spikes (BECTS) on brain network hierarchy and cognitive function. The study included 50 children with BECTS and 69 healthy controls. The researchers found that children with BECTS exhibited changes in the macro-network function hierarchy, with increased gradient scores in certain brain regions. These changes were associated with disruptions in functional connectivity and were correlated with cognitive function, specifically verbal intelligence quotient (VIQ). The findings contribute to our understanding of the functional connectome hierarchy and provide potential biomarkers for cognitive function in children with BECTS. [Extracted from the article]
