A recent study conducted at the Federal University of Pelotas in Brazil aimed to examine the inflammatory profiles of individuals with different weight diagnoses but similar periodontal conditions. The researchers reviewed twelve studies that compared the inflammatory profiles of normal-weight individuals to those with obesity. The results showed mixed findings for various cytokines, hindering conclusions on the impact of weight on inflammatory profiles in periodontal patients.
