A study conducted at Jessa Hospital in Hasselt, Belgium, has found that the mean pulmonary artery pressure/cardiac output (mPAP/CO) slope and oxygen uptake can provide prognostic value in patients with aortic valve stenosis. The study involved 143 patients with aortic valve stenosis who underwent cardiopulmonary exercise testing with echocardiography. The researchers found that the mPAP/CO slope and percent-predicted peak oxygen uptake were independent predictors of cardiovascular events in patients with moderate and severe aortic valve stenosis. These findings suggest that these measures could be used to improve risk stratification in patients with aortic valve stenosis. [Extracted from the article] |
