Abstrakt: Researchers from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in Iran conducted a study to assess the predictive role of maternal body mass index (BMI) and hemoglobin (Hb) in placental weight and neonatal outcome. The study found that maternal BMI in early pregnancy and gestational age were positive predictors for placental weight, while maternal hemoglobin was a positive predictor for the neonate's Apgar score. The researchers concluded that educating pregnant women about proper nutrition to maintain a safe BMI could lead to positive outcomes for the placenta and newborn. This information may be useful for caregivers in providing appropriate support to pregnant women. [Extracted from the article]
