Abstrakt: A recent report from Santiago, Chile discusses the findings of a study on Doege-Potter syndrome, a rare condition characterized by recurrent hypoglycemic events caused by non-pancreatic tumors. The study measured the levels of Insulin-like Growth Factor-II (IGF-II) and Insulin-like Growth Factor-I (IGF-I) in a Chilean patient with the syndrome and compared them to control individuals. The researchers found that the patient had higher levels of IGF-II and a significantly higher IGF-II/IGF-I ratio compared to the controls. The study suggests that the IGF-II/IGF-I ratio may be a better indicator of metabolic impairment in Doege-Potter syndrome than isolated measurements of IGF-II or IGF-I levels.
