A recent study examined trends in cervical cancer diagnosis and mortality in the United States, finding that rates of distant-stage cervical cancer and mortality have increased, particularly among Non-Hispanic White women in low-income regions. The study suggests that reduced screening and care for specific subgroups of women, such as those with low income, may be contributing to these findings. In Italy, a national screening program for cervical cancer has been implemented, with 79% of women following a regular screening program. However, attendance rates for the program were lower than 50%, with lower education being a significant factor. The study emphasizes the importance of information and education about the importance of screening and vaccination, as well as the need for national institutions to play a role in these efforts.
