Abstrakt: This article discusses the discovery of oil-offering orchids in Asia that are pollinated by male bees of the Ctenoplectra genus. Previously, oil-offering flowers were only known to be pollinated by female Ctenoplectra bees. The study documents and quantifies the interactions between these orchids and bees through observations and experiments. The findings raise questions about the evolutionary time frame of this mutualism and the role of floral oil in the behavior of male bees. Further research is needed to understand the cues that attract males to orchid oil and females to cucurbit oil. [Extracted from the article]
