Abstrakt: Cellulose, a biopolymer with a complex supramolecular structure and amphiphilic properties, is described as the main component of the plant cell wall. During dissolution, it is necessary to overcome the hydrophobic interaction between cellulose macromolecules and break inter- and intramolecular hydrogen bonds. Information is provided on cellulose solvent systems, as well as on the mechanisms of direct cellulose dissolution. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
