A new study conducted at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey, has found that the Relative Cortical Atrophy (RCA) Index can be a strong predictor of recurrence after surgery for chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH). The study analyzed 98 patients who underwent surgical evacuation for unilateral CSDH and found that a higher preoperative RCA Index was significantly associated with recurrence. The researchers concluded that incorporating the RCA Index into preoperative assessments may improve surgical planning and postoperative management, potentially reducing recurrence rates. This information may be useful for individuals researching subdural hematoma and its treatment options. [Extracted from the article] |
