Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in Iran investigated the efficacy of ferric carboxymaltose (FCM) in patients with iron deficiency anemia who were undergoing cardiac surgery. The study involved two groups of patients, one of which received a fixed dose of FCM before surgery, while the other group received no medication. The researchers found that although FCM improved iron stores and increased hemoglobin levels, it did not effectively correct preoperative anemia or reduce the need for blood transfusions during surgery. This study suggests that FCM may not be an effective treatment for preoperative anemia in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. [Extracted from the article]
