A recent study conducted at Pt. B.D. Sharma Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Haryana, India compared the effectiveness of nebulized dexmedetomidine and nebulized lignocaine in blunting the haemodynamic response to laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation. The study involved 135 patients and found that both dexmedetomidine and lignocaine were effective in attenuating the pressor response during laryngoscopy and intubation. However, dexmedetomidine was found to be more effective than lignocaine without any adverse haemodynamic effects. This research provides valuable insights for medical professionals in managing the stress response induced by laryngoscopy and intubation. [Extracted from the article] |
