A recent study conducted at Islamic Azad University in Tabriz, Iran, has reported on the concurrent occurrence of prostatomegaly (enlarged prostate) and cystolithiasis (bladder stones) in an intact terrier dog. The study describes the case of a 6.25-year-old male terrier dog with a history of dysuria (painful urination) and intermittent hematuria (blood in urine) for the past two years. Clinical examination, abdominal radiography, and ultrasonography revealed the presence of an enlarged prostate and a large bladder stone. The dog was diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia and underwent cystotomy to remove the bladder stone. This case is unique as cystolithiasis associated with canine benign prostatic hyperplasia has not been previously reported in the literature. [Extracted from the article] |
