Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom has focused on the urgent need for new molecules to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The researchers have identified a small molecule called OXF-077, which inhibits the SOS response and suppresses the evolution of quinolone antibiotic resistance in methicillin-resistant S. aureus. This discovery supports the use of SOS-response inhibitors as a novel approach to combat AMR. The study provides valuable insights into the structure-activity relationship of the IMP-1700 scaffold and delivers OXF-077 as a potential tool molecule for future development.
