A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Massachusetts Amherst examined the impact of an urban gardens and peer nutritional counseling intervention on HIV-related stigmas and social support among individuals with HIV and food insecurity in the Dominican Republic. The study found that participants in the intervention group experienced reduced internalized stigma, a decreased probability of experiencing HIV-related stigma or discrimination, and modestly improved social support.
