A study conducted by the University of Gothenburg Sahlgrenska Academy examined the socioeconomic inequalities in the uptake of colorectal cancer screening and its implications on health equity. The study recruited sixty-year-olds from the Swedish population and offered them either fecal immunochemical testing (FIT) every two years or a one-time primary colonoscopy (PCOL). The researchers found that the yield of advanced neoplasia (AN) from FIT was slightly lower than PCOL, but the difference was smaller in lower socioeconomic groups. These findings provide valuable insights for evaluating health equity in organized screening for colorectal cancer. [Extracted from the article] |
