Researchers from Jagiellonian University Medical College in Krakow, Poland have conducted a study on the relationship between taste perception and appetite in older adults. The study found that a decrease in taste perception is associated with a decrease in appetite, which raises concerns about the nutritional status of older adults. The researchers suggest that careful identification of patients with gustatory dysfunction can help prevent malnutrition, and they provide areas that can be addressed during a nutritional interview to develop an optimal approach. This research has potential implications for clinical practice in geriatric nutritional care. [Extracted from the article] |
