Abstrakt: A TIME investigation has found that doctors in the United States are pressuring women, especially those who are Black, Latina, young, or low-income, to use long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs) and refusing to remove them when requested. This practice reflects biases in the medical system and a historical attempt to control reproduction. The recent Supreme Court decision on abortion has made it more urgent to address this issue. While it is important to inform women about contraceptive choices and increase access to birth control, experts argue that focusing solely on the effectiveness of LARCs can be problematic. Concerns are raised about the pressure placed on women, particularly those from marginalized communities, to use LARCs without considering their individual preferences or circumstances. This issue is seen as a form of reproductive injustice and raises questions about trust in the healthcare system. [Extracted from the article]
