Abstrakt: Image pre-processing, also known as image enhancement, is a necessary first stage in basically all image processing applications. The quality of the sequent phases and the full application is highly dependent on outcome of the pre-processing stage. The removal of noise and soft tissue from CT images is an essential pre-processing step. During the filtering of both noise and soft tissue in images, the greater issue is maintaining location accuracy and image details without losing them. This paper describes an improved CT image pre-processing approach based on histogram modeling that reduces noise and undesirable artifacts and shows the external structure of the bone by taking image contents into account. Furthermore, the bone tissue is enhanced while the image texture's location accuracy is maintained. The powerful MATLAB software was utilized to test performance of the enhanced algorithm. In addition, the mean square error, peak signal to noise ratio, edge preservation index, and entropy are used to statistically compare the results and therefore evaluate their performance. When compared to the previous technique, the enhanced method produces better results. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
