This article analyzes the demographics, training backgrounds, project outcomes, and career paths of Physician-In-Training (PIT) award winners at the American Society of Dermatopathology annual conference from 2012 to 2022. The study found that out of 109 awardees, 50.5% were male and 49.5% were female. Among the awardees who completed residency, 86.7% went on to complete fellowship training. Gender was not associated with future fellowship training. Additionally, 49.2% of the award-winning projects had related published manuscripts, with a gender publication gap observed. The study highlights the need for further research to investigate factors contributing to gender publication disparities. [Extracted from the article] |
