| Abstrakt: | The article in Acta Paediatrica discusses the issue of causing anxiety for mothers with autoimmune thyroiditis during the early postpartum period. The article reviews the literature on maternal autoimmune thyroiditis and its potential effects on newborn infants. It concludes that the prevalence of congenital hypothyroidism in infants born to mothers with autoimmune thyroiditis is very low and that additional thyroid function tests for newborns are not justified.
