Abstrakt: The use of digital technology has increased dramatically over the previous two decades. It has increased human exposure to prolonged screen time, which is becoming significant concern. Screen-based media have become an important part and parcel of human lifestyle. Digital technology came as a blessing in disguise with a recent pandemic. Digital media is being interwoven into children's daily lives, with possible benefits and risks for learning, mental and physical health, and social life. In nearly every country, screen exposure is documented as early as infancy. During a critical period of growth and maturation, screen time can impinge on children's ability to develop optimally. Preschool children having screen time greater than 2 h showcase decrease cognitive development. Screen time also has a negative impact on language development, as it reduces the amount and quality of interaction between children and parents. Health-care providers can encourage healthy digital media use by advising every family to remember four key evidence-based principles: minimizing, mitigating, mindfully using, and modeling healthy screen use. These principles continue to guide young kids as they become acquainted with a rapidly changing media landscape. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
