A recent study conducted by researchers at Mansoura University compared the properties of sound and carious dentin after the application of two restorative materials. The study found that the ion-releasing bioactive resin-based restorative material increased the microhardness and remineralization rate of caries-affected and sound dentin. Additionally, enzymatic caries excavation with a papain-based agent did not have any adverse effects on the dentin substrate. These findings suggest potential benefits for oral health treatments.
