This article discusses a case study of a 51-year-old African American woman with locally recurrent Stage IIIA squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva. The patient initially received primary chemoradiation, which resulted in a complete pathologic response. However, she later experienced local recurrence and underwent surgical resection, including radical anterior vulvectomy, distal urethrectomy, and vulvar reconstruction with bilateral Singapore fasciocutaneous flap. The article emphasizes the importance of multidisciplinary teams for complex reconstructions in cases of vulvar cancer, particularly in previously irradiated fields. The research provides a unique approach to vulvar reconstruction in such cases. [Extracted from the article] |
