Abstrakt: A recent report from the Medical University of Innsbruck in Austria has shed light on the research surrounding Aspergillus fumigatus, a type of mold. The study found that the mold uses two systems, reductive iron assimilation (RIA) and siderophore-mediated iron acquisition (SIA), to obtain iron, an essential trace element. The researchers discovered that the transcription factors AcuK and AcuM, which are required for gluconeogenesis activation, play a role in the production of siderophores. The lack of these transcription factors affected siderophore production indirectly through their influence on metabolism. The study also revealed the influence of iron availability on carbon metabolism. [Extracted from the article]
