A recent study conducted by researchers at the Cancer Center Amsterdam in the Netherlands examined the effects of selective intra-arterial chemotherapy (SIAC) on retinoblastoma patients. The study found that SIAC treatment resulted in adverse effects such as inflammation and vascular features, with 6% of patients experiencing therapy-induced contrast enhancement in the optic nerve segment. Additionally, the study revealed a negative impact on eye and optic nerve growth, particularly in children treated at 12 months of age. These findings provide important insights for clinical management and future research in the field of retinoblastoma treatment. [Extracted from the article] |
