A recent study conducted at China Agricultural University explored the factors that contribute to individual variations in susceptibility to obesity. The researchers used mice models to compare obesity-prone and obesity-resistant groups that were fed high-fat diets. They found that the gut microbiota and arachidonic acid metabolism differed between the two groups, with certain bacteria and metabolites being associated with obesity resistance.
