A systematic review conducted by researchers at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine evaluated the effectiveness and safety of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for post-viral olfactory dysfunction (PVOD), a common symptom of long COVID. The review included six randomized controlled trials, two non-randomized controlled trials, and one retrospective cohort study. The overall quality of the included studies was low, but the results suggested that acupuncture and acupoint injection may be effective in improving PVOD. However, more well-designed trials focusing on acupuncture are needed to confirm these findings. [Extracted from the article] |
