A study conducted by researchers at Iran University of Medical Sciences explored the impact of a meaningful task-oriented intervention on elderly patients with mild to moderate dementia. The study involved 40 participants who were randomly assigned to either a control group or an intervention group. The intervention group received standard care along with task-oriented interventions centered around familiar daily life activities in the home environment. The study found that the intervention group showed significant improvements in independence in activities of daily living, cognitive function, and physical performance compared to the control group. The researchers concluded that these interventions can support the maintenance of essential skills and foster a sense of independence among elderly patients with dementia.
