Abstrakt: New research from Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin explores the use of resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) data to predict individual outcomes in exposure-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for anxiety disorders. The study analyzed data from two large clinical trials and found that the predictions of individual outcomes did not significantly differ from chance level. The researchers caution against interpreting promising prediction results based on neuroimaging data from small samples and emphasize the need for larger, cross-validated studies. The study concludes that the promise of rs-fMRI data in predicting CBT treatment outcomes for anxiety disorders has yet to be realized. [Extracted from the article]
