A recent report from the Morehouse School of Medicine highlights the racial disparities in maternal morbidity and mortality rates, with Black women being more likely to die from pregnancy and childbirth compared to other races. The study focuses on using mobile health (mHealth) interventions to reduce these disparities, specifically by examining the perspectives of Black rural postpartum mothers. Through group interviews, the researchers identified challenges related to accessibility, racism and discrimination, and mental health that these women face.
