A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Puerto Rico has found that the use of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS), specifically nandrolone, in adolescent female rats has detrimental effects on their reproductive system. The study showed that nandrolone treatment led to increased body weight, decreased ovarian weight, and disrupted uterine morphology. Additionally, the drug altered the levels of hormones such as testosterone, estradiol, and progesterone in the rats. These findings highlight the need for further research on the long-term consequences of early nandrolone exposure on the female reproductive system and fertility. [Extracted from the article] |
