A recent study conducted at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire focused on improving diabetes management screening adherence in a free clinic. The researchers found that uninsured individuals with diabetes are at risk for inconsistent disease management and complications due to limited access to electronic point-of-care (POC) tools. To address this issue, the study implemented a paper POC tool and workflow, resulting in an increase in adherence with disease management screenings from 0% to 15.7% over a six-month period. The research concludes that nurse practitioner-led projects can improve health equity and quality for at-risk populations. [Extracted from the article] |
