A recent study conducted at a tertiary hospital in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, examined the impact of comorbid conditions and chronic medications on the treatment plan for chronic hepatitis C (CHC) infection. The study included 170 patients with CHC and found that hypertension and cirrhosis were associated with changes in the treatment plan. Additionally, the presence of diabetes mellitus, renal diseases, and hypothyroidism were significantly associated with HCV clearance after therapy initiation. The study emphasizes the importance of considering comorbidities and chronic medications when developing treatment plans for CHC to optimize patient outcomes. [Extracted from the article] |
