Abstrakt:	A new study conducted at the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust Hospital explores the use of echocardiography in screening pregnant women for rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in high-prevalence areas. The study found that echocardiography as part of antenatal care may detect RHD or other cardiac abnormalities in asymptomatic pregnant women, potentially reducing disease progression and adverse labor-associated outcomes. However, the evidence is limited due to the low certainty of evidence and the lack of studies comparing echocardiography to standard antenatal care.
