A recent study conducted by researchers at the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences examined emotional intelligence (EI) in children with epilepsy. The study found that children with epilepsy had significantly lower EI scores compared to a control group, particularly in the areas of intrapersonal skills, adaptability, and general mood. Factors such as the number of anti-epileptic drugs, age, seizure frequency, MRI abnormalities, aura, and early onset of seizures were associated with lower EI scores. The findings highlight the importance of considering EI in the context of pediatric epilepsy, as impaired EI may contribute to psychosocial challenges faced by affected children.
