Abstrakt: A study conducted at the South Miyagi Medical Center in Japan has found that microvascular decompression surgery is effective in treating oculomotor nerve palsy caused by compression from the posterior cerebral artery (PCA). The researchers reported a case of a 66-year-old woman who experienced diplopia and right blepharoptosis, which were symptoms of incomplete right oculomotor nerve palsy. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed that the right PCA had compressed the oculomotor nerve. The surgery successfully released the pressure and the patient fully recovered within 48 days. The study highlights the importance of prompt diagnosis and appropriate surgical management for achieving clinical improvement in cases of oculomotor nerve palsy caused by neurovascular compression.
